September 2010 Society Auction
Lot 5. Letter, General Boye at Le Cap to the local chief magistrate, 16 October 1803, on
military stationery. Nice strike of “ETAT major general” seal on front and part of a second on reverse (Jamet #25 in
franks and countersigns). Paper is military stationary. Contents are somewhat faded but in a neat hand and probably can
be read. Signed by Boye. Paper is sound with some age staining, especially at edges. The date is less than a month
before the surrender of Rochambeau to British naval forces off Le Cap. Overall about fine.
