September 2010 Society Auction

Lot 11. Folded letter, 4 October 1794, Mole St. Nicolas to Philadelphia via New York. Markings are “NY * OCT * 21” handstamped and “10” manuscript (10 cents due). Evidently the letter was carried as a favor to New York and posted there, avoiding the ship letter charge. Letter is clean and sound. Contents are a page of very small handwriting in French. It looks to be difficult to read. Overall F to VF.
