September 2010 Society Auction

Lot 10. Folded letter, Cap Haitien, 15 May 1845, to Port Republicain (Port au Prince) with VF strike of the Cap Haitian negative oval paid marking. On the front is also in manuscript 6 ¼ c (the postage in centimes prepaid). The letter is neat and clean and overall quite attractive. There is a horizontal file fold not affecting the markings. Contents are two pages written by a man to his wife, apparently explaining why he has not sent any money. Almost VF.
