Lot 23. Ship letter, Port au Prince to London 5 January 1831, via New York and Liverpool. On front is 2/4 postage due marking. Reverse has forwarders oval in red for C. A. & E. Heckacher, New York (listed by Rowe) and dated 16 February 1832. Also “LIVERPOOL SHIP LETTER” in rectangle and London receiving 7 March 1832. (year on docketing should be 1832). Letter is sound and quite clean with file fold not affecting markings.. Forwarder marking is only fair with good part of name not visible. Other markings VF. Letter is one and a half pages in German (?). Somewhat difficult to read and seems to be commercial.
